DONATIONS TO VERMONT PUBLIC LIBRARIES
We have received many calls and emails from people all across the country who want to help our libraries. We are grateful to all of you and want to let you know how you can best help our libraries at this time. For now, please do not send books. Instead, we are accepting cash donations.
For those who want to make donations to assist Vermont public libraries who suffered damage or flooding as a result of Tropical Storm Irene, please send contact the Vermont Public Library Foundation, c/o State Librarian, Vermont Department of Libraries, 109 State Street, Montpelier, VT 05609
Funds will be used for repairs, mold abatement, clean-up and replacement of books, furniture and computers. Any funds left over will be kept in a separate account to assist public libraries in future disaster-related events.

The Norwich Bookstore is organizing books and funds to deliver replacement books
as soon as the structure is cleaned and repaired. If you would like to help
restock the shelves, we can guide your selection from a wish list the library
will provide. Or you can add funds to their book account for the Aileen Gillett,
the librarian to use as needed.
For books purchased for the library through our special recovery account, we
offer you a 20% discount and collect no sales tax. You can also stop by or call
with a credit card and tell us what you would like to donate – a specific
title or a monetary amount. If you wish to donate online, you can purchase a
Norwich Bookstore Gift Card and designate the West Hartford Library as the
To avoid duplication, we will keep track of what has been purchased. We will
collect and store the books until the library has new shelving and then deliver
them. If you are planning to ship books, please wait until the shelves are
ready. We will keep our website updated.
