Road Update: Halifax

The Halifax Emergency Operation Center continues operations to assist residents impacted by the flooding from Tropical Storm Irene.

Halifax roads have now been marked with key “best” routes. White plastic plates lead you to Whitingham/Wilmington/Jacksonville. Blue plastic plates lead you to Brattleboro, and green plates take you the best route to Greenfield, MA. These routes are the best routes to transit through Halifax edge to edge. We continue to ask people to make only essential trips, as the repairs here and in neighboring towns are temporary and ongoing.

Brook Road, a key paved north-south road was made passable by the Highway Department. Teams will be going out again Friday with food and water for isolated homes, currently numbered at about 16. In addition food and water are available at the Halifax Fire Station.

The Halifax Selectboard has scheduled a special informational meeting for 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the Fire station.

For non-emergencies, you can get information on our website at www.halifaxvermont.com, or contact the Halifax Emergency Operations Center at 802-368-7673.
