Help Needed: Waterbury/Duxbury

Please pass the word that Waterbury/Duxbury homeowners still desperately need volunteers help clean out houses, move furniture, pack belongings, and remove trash.

We’ll be meeting again Thursday and Friday morning at 9 AM at Thatcher Brook Primary School to match volunteers with people in need.  Given the amount of interest, it’s likely that we will extend this matchmaking service over the weekend.   Please contact Reed at ReedMcCracken (at) comcast (dot) net.
If you have any of the following items, please bring them with you:

5 –gallon buckets
Cleaning supplies
Masking tape

There are two new local websites for donating money, goods and services to waterbury/duxbury community:

Congregational Church – Good Neighbor Fund

To make monetary donations to flood victims in crisis

Town of Waterbury website –

Thank you again for all the wonderful support!

I’ve driven through Waterbury several times now and each time I see people, people, everywhere: people carrying furniture out to dry in their yards, people with shovels, people with brooms, people with hoses–but always, people working to save what they can. For sure they need help.

Any idea if sump pumps will still be needed on Saturday? We’ll be able to head in with a crew of volunteers. Also, if we don’t make it by 9:00, is there a contact person/phone#? Finally..can we access downtown from both directions? Thanks. Keep the faith!
