Kids are affected by disaster just like adults, but sometimes don’t get included in recovery efforts. It is important for us, however, to include them so that they understand what strong communities can do and that their contributions are valuable.
We have a phenomenal woman who has reached out to us who will be coordinating Care Packages for schools affected by Irene. You can contact her for specifics, but she connected with an out-of-state teacher who was stranded in Killington earlier this week and they thought up this great idea. And please, Megan is a volunteer (like everyone else at VTResponse) and is not coordinating school cleanups. She’s got enough to coordinate all care packages!
So get your kids involved and help out schools in Vermont.
