University of Vermont President John Bramley Approves Paid Release Time to All UVM Employees to Help with Recovery Effort:

EXCERPT: To support employees interested in volunteering in either Irene recovery activities or fundraising efforts, I am amending University policy related to release time for community and professional service to allow paid release time (total of two days) for volunteer service. This amendment remains in effect through December 31, 2011.Supervisors are encouraged to provide reasonable, paid release time for employees interested in volunteering while assuring that essential functions continue. Some offices and departments may want to consider selecting a specific day and arranging to volunteer as a team. I want to remind you of the importance of using appropriate caution and judgment when volunteering for certain recovery efforts. If every employee volunteered one day that would be nearly 30,000 hours of much needed service to Vermont!
